SELF-PUBLISHING SOLUTIONS:

About Dragonwick

Being involved in publishing in Sydney for many years has given Dragonwick’s Jeannette Gilligan a good grounding in the industry and a ‘feel’ for authors’ requirements. She has also edited and produced writers’ journals, including FreeXpresSion, Jottings and FAW NSW’s Writers Voice, and it was during this period she saw the need for small print run, well-designed and produced books for the self-publisher.

Now located on the Far North Coast of New South Wales, Dragonwick Publishing’s personalised book production and printing service includes all types, sizes and quantities of self-published books.

Local histories are especially suitable for self-publishing and Jeannette has produced many books of this type. With personal memoirs, family histories and collections of poetry, some authors only require a few copies of their work for their family and friends, and this is where self-publishing comes into its own. Dragonwick is able to produce books with print runs as small as twenty-five copies, and reprints available when required.

Most books are printed digitally by Southern Cross University Printery at Lismore, but if you have special requirements, reasonably-priced offset printers can also be sourced. If you prefer to make your own printing arrangements, PDF files can be supplied.

Dragonwick’s service allows you to participate in every stage of the book’s production, and transform your manuscript into a top-quality book you'll be proud of. You’ll avoid unnecessary pitfalls in design and your book will be completed on time and on budget.

Clients come from all walks of life. Some are first-time authors and many are repeat clients with their second or third (or fourth) book – testimony enough!

Jeannette has also produced a large range of books for the Alstonville Plateau Historical Society (see Non-Fiction Library), and edits and publishes their bi-monthly newsletter, The Pioneer.

Dragonwick Publishing is Australia-wide, and working closely with authors to ensure they get the best possible result is Jeannette’s prime consideration.

One of Dragonwick's clients has been Peter Bowler, the internationally well-known author of the ‘Superior Person's’ books about weird words. His book of verse for children, The Creepy-Crawly, is a Dragonwick product.

Jeannette was super-efficient, and the Dragonwick experience a total pleasure. As well as managing the whole editing and production process from Go to Whoa, she introduced me to that wonderful illustrator, the late Peter Hanbury, without whose work The Creepy-Crawly would have struggled to rise above mediocrity.

And a selection of comments from other clients ...

I gave Dragonwick a very large folder of newspaper clippings and photos and Jeannette compiled and edited a wonderful book, which has been a great success. Amazing!

Good help is hard to find, so they say, but in Jeannette’s case this is not so! Without her, my first three books would never have got off the ground, let alone into the bookstores. I’m really looking forward to working with her again on my next project.

When the family decided to put a book together about our late mother, we didn’t know what we were letting ourselves in for. But Dragonwick’s guidance and professionalism enabled us to produce a book that captured the message. Above all, Jeannette was a pleasure to work with, and these days with modern technology, distance was no problem.
